We are!  Our friends Katie and Tony are currently in the car on the way from DC, and we can’t wait to show them around the area!

If you’re entertaining, cook for your peeps!  They’ll love it.  Here are some of my favorite things to make when I have guests.

Snacking is key with visitors, isn’t it?  Keep some healthy snacks in the fridge like homemade hummus and salsa, and veggies so that people can munch while they’re drinking all your boxed wine and telling you about their neighbor’s stepmother’s dog’s skin allergies.  Delicious!

  • Read how to make hummus here.
  • Click here for super easy fresh salsa!

I like having at least one big meal at home when people come to visit.  Restaurants are GREAT, as we clearly feel, but it’s nice to be at home, not worry about crowds or money, and eat and drink and enjoy each other!

Whatever you do, please please please make some roasted tomatoes and keep them around with baguettes while you’re cooking.  It’ll make any length of travel worth it!

Then, for dinner, make the insanely easy but delicious Argentinian BBQ that I use ALL THE TIME FOR GUESTS.  Click here for the link!  It’s the best, and it’s easy, and you can CHANGE IT based on people’s preferences.

For example:

  • Make chicken and steak or shrimp for 2 protein options.
  • Use vegan chorizo:  it tastes great and will appeal to vegetarians who won’t be eating the meat!
  • Add more veggies!  Some people might not like peppers and onions.  Still use them, but add in zucchini, mushrooms, or whatever you’ve got around to add to the bulk and choices!  Cut everything into really big chunks so people can get what they want on their plate!

I don’t do much with desserts, but you could make a huge batch of crepes before your guests arrive and use them for desserts, snacks, breakfast….whatever!  They’re easy to make and everyone loves them!

Entertaining shouldn’t be stressful, it should be fun!  Your guests are coming to see you, not inspect and judge the pubic hairs on your baseboards.

Ew, sorry.

Make easy food, drink lots of wine, and enjoy the time you have with people you don’t get to see all the time!

Have a lovely weekend, and rest assured that my baseboards are spotless.
