It’s gray and cloudy and here and Jay has been sick for a week, which is a huge bummer because it makes me bored and weird and grouchy, which makes him weird and grouchy.
What I’m trying to say is that sometimes it’s nice to have a nice dinner without working too hard, ok?
This is just that!
You keep all the ingredients you need on hand, or just make these when you have some random bread lying around.
We’re making Naan Pizzas!
For realzies, you could easily keep marinara sauce and pita bread/naan bread/any bread in the freezer, then make these anytime you’d like!
I made these last week because I had a lot of random ingredients in small quantities (1 small pepper, 1/4 onion, etc) that I wanted to use up, and this was perfect!
I also knew I wanted Italian food again later in the week, so I made a LOT of marinara sauce all at once.
Realistically, though, plan for 1/4 cup of any kind of marinara you’d like to use per person. It’s great to keep in the freezer, just store it in small containers and thaw out a bit whenever you need it!
To assemble the pizzas, preheat your oven to 375 and gather up the bread you’d like to use, then chop up veggies, meats, cheese…whatever toppings you enjoy!
This is red onion, pepperoni, sliced garlic, mushrooms, and a lovely banana pepper from the farmers market.
BECAUSE I USED IT ON MY PIZZA.
Here’s the secret to these, folks. Before you start assembling your pizza melt one tablespoon of butter (per pizza) with 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder and a sprinkle of salt, then brush that all over the bread before you add any other toppings.
Yep, I went there. This takes these to a GLORIOUS new level. Garlic bread flavor baked right into a delicious homemade pizza with crust that you didn’t have to fiddle with?
Done and done.
Once you brush the garlic butter on the crusts save any leftovers- you’ll want it later!
Then, carefully spread a bit of sauce on the bread.
Then, add whatever toppings you like! I like to add some toppings, then some cheese, then MORE TOPPINGS.
Moderation isn’t really my thing when it comes to pizza-related foods.
Oh MY. That’s just lovely, isn’t it?
When you’re ready, bake the pizzas in the oven at 375F for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melty and the crust is as brown as you’d like it to be – that’s up to you!
I like to let mine get pretty dark, because I believe wholeheartedly that crunchy brown cheese is one of God’s gifts to the universe, and I don’t like to waste gifts.
When your pizzas are perfectly cooked, cut them into slices or strips and serve them with extra garlic butter for dipping.
