Showdown Saturday Menu

November 24, 2012 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

Was your Thanksgiving good?

Mine was, and I’m, like, totally bummed that the day after tomorrow everyone has to go back to work for 4 weeks and pretend like we aren’t counting down the days until Christmas.

I’m not the only one doing that, right?  Please say no.

We’re Clemson people, like I told you about last year.

Well, I’m no one’s people, but Jay went to Clemson and graduated from Clemson, so today we’re Clemson people.

Today, Clemson’s football team is playing USC – their fiercest rival.  The therapist in me doesn’t understand why it’s, like, not so GREAT that we have two good schools in our state and why can’t we just cheer for EVERYONE and be happy?!?! but, shockingly sadly, I’m outnumbered 1 – everyoneelse in that regard.

So, on this day, we have people over and eat a lot and trash talk people we’ve never met and drink.

It’s fun!

I get to do the cooking, AND my house is totally decorated for Christmas, so I’m super psyched.

We made blackening seasoning, and later we’re gonna smoke some chicken legs.  YUM.

I’m serving them with homemade blue cheese dressing and hot sauce to dip.

I made my own salsa, and I’m going to whip up some of that non-cooking dip with Velveeta, Rotel, and sausage.  You make that, right?  It’s stupid good, and stupid easy.

I have some brownie bites that my butt is telling me to stop eating, so they’re on the menu.

And spinach artichoke dip. It’s the filling for these mushrooms and these toasts, but to make life easier I’m just putting the filling in a dish, baking it, and setting it out with pita wedges.  Homemade and easy – my favorite kind of cooking.

Happy Football, if you’re into that kind of thing.  If not, happy Saturday.  🙂
