My sister turns 25 today!
She’s hopefully having a super duper snuggly day because it’s SNOWING and school was cancelled and she’s a teacher but it’s not really sticking because it isn’t cold enough but it might overnight and YAY BIRTHDAYS WITH NO WORK!
My sister Emily is kind of great. She’s the second of our four, and was my bff from the time she was born, thanks to some careful planning on my parents’ part about how “cool” it was to be a big sister.
And hence, on this day 25 years ago, Bossy Lindsay came to life thanks to a very curly haired little person.
Because she was my first sister, I thought she was the coolest. Until, of course, middle school when I took a 10 year break from liking her at all.
Don’t worry! The feeling was mutual and we moved past it. It only took 10 years! Maybe 9, but still.
This morning Em got to come to my yoga class since she wasn’t working but the roads were still legit, and it’s always such a treat to practice with her. As she gets older, she’s becoming a wonderful human. Funny, smart, and mama to a very challenging dog child with many tummy issues and neuroses. She handles him 87% with grace, 13% with dramatic outbursts, which I find to be an endearing percentage.
Last year at this time the girl was living with us, figuring out her life, and watching entirely too much reality tv from our guest room. Now she owns a really cute house close to us! And is probably watching too much reality tv as I type this, but that’s ok on your birthsnowday isn’t it? She’s building a glorious adult life full of great friends, fun activities, and a job that challenges her and she happens to be fabulous at (she’s a music teacher).
I think Mother Nature’s wishing her a happy one with this pretty day, just like I am. Just look at the flattering pictures I’ve chosen to highlight her very existence!
I love you, Emily!
(she loves me too, just silently on the inside)
