Guys. It’s a short week!
Thank GEE, amirite? We’re having an insane 4 days until then, and Thursday evening can’t come soon enough. Our major plans for the weekend include MAKING NO PLANS, so that probably means that we’ll end up cooking a lot at home and finding some friends and family to hang out with. Fun! Fun?
Whether or not you’re doing anything official this weekend, it’s still fun to have some flag-colored food, don’t you think? I do. Nothing wrong with a white sheet cake decorated like a flag, of course, but here are some other, slightly more creative ways to incorporate Old Glory into your menu this weekend.
Red! There are of course a ton of red foods that you could make, but I particularly like these firecracker shrimp for the 4th. They’re super easy to make and are FAST. If you’re not feeling seafood, you could do raw gazpacho, which is super refreshing this time of year. It’s vegan, too!
Just last week I told you about this blueberry barbecue sauce, so definitely make that to go with any protein that you like!
Red + White + Blue
Two options for ya here: this flag salad with berries and beets and CHEESE, or this tri-colored risotto. The berries sound weird, I know, but sweet + salty is a great combo, and you’ll LOVE this as a vegetarian main course or side dish.
I know, I know. Might be cheesy to care so much about our food matching the holiday, but STILL. It’s fun.
