Story for another day.
We didn’t do gifts for each other because we’re saving for a super duper fun trip and also I’ve been “working for myself” aka making 1/3 of my old salary since January so….the gift of being together was enough. You get it. but But BUT, my sister made us a piece of art for our house! And it got done kind of around our anniversary, so I’m calling it our anniversary present and also I LOVE it.
My sister, to be fair, is a graphic communications major and an incredible artist, but I think the idea here is relatively simple: swishy background, circles that are kind of like wheels that are kind of like the passing of time, interwoven with some of her favorite lines from our wedding vows, which we wrote ourselves.
I especially love that this WASN’T a wedding gift, because on the actual wedding you’re kind of inundated with gifts, and a year later it’s SO nice to look back on the words we said to one another so innocently and sincerely, and to now have a visual reminder of those words, hanging in my very dirty office.
The Clorox wipes are kind of a permanent fixture due to the fact that the little fridge is freezing in the back and warm in the front and diet Dr. Pepper keeps exploding all over the place. SO MUCH FUN TO CLEAN UP on opposite day.
So, there you have it. A lovely way to commemorate wedding vows in what I feel is a non-cheesy format, and if my super talented sister could make this in three days then you could probably make it in three months, right?
My mother suggests pot lids as a stencil for the circles. I said protractor but I meant compass.
Pin it, y’all. Up next I’m going to teach her how to make an Etsy shop. You’d order something like this, right? I know you would.
