One of my fav things is reading back over some of the original stuff I wrote here and DAMN a lot has happened since we started this blog! I was only a semester into grad school when we opened up shop, and I had totally forgotten that Jay participated in my faux therapy sessions that we had to do in some early coursework.
I posted this originally a few years ago, but put it below for you to recall how silly we were. I’m not 100% sure if this exercise really made me a better therapist, but it was a ton of fun!
I’m currently taking a class on therapy skills, and have to make a set of videos in which I embody different techniques in imaginary scenarios. Jay has been a willing participant in these videos, and has taken some serious creative license with the “problems” he is facing.
Our second video ended like this:
”That must have been really hard for you, getting attacked first at a Miley Cyrus concert and then at a Jonas Brothers Concert.”
“It really was. You get tickets to a Disney event, and what you think is going to be a fairytale….ends up being a nightmare.”
Homeboy doesn’t laugh, homeboy doesn’t crack a smile.
I, on the other hand, LOST IT.
I’m going to fail school and have to be a full-time blogger.
