Five for Friday

  1. Beck’s faces are always really entertaining since she has so little control over her facial muscles, but some of the images I took when I was photographing the summer rolls were amazing.  I can’t WAIT to start solids with her.
  2. Last weekend at the Sweet Sigs reunion Jay and I made this bacon that he invented for brunch.  We’ve made it for a few groups of people, and invariably people are like WHAT IS THAT IT IS CRACK MAKE MORE OMG WHAT IS IT.  You can make it too!  It’s right here, and it’s very easy to make.  Or you can come over and I’ll make it for you.
  3. Jay, to baby screaming:  “Wait, what!  The commercial ended, and yayyyyyy it’s Die Hard With A Vengeance!  Why are you still crying?  Do you hate Samuel L. Jackson?  Racist….”
  4. It’s Cinco de Mayo in less than a week!  I’m always a huge fan of any food holiday, but Mexican food is one of our favs, and I get asked a ton about how I make guacamole.  I have a pretty classic yet involved recipe on this site, but I’ve been simplifying it a ton recently.  It’s 2 avocados – super ripe, not mashed too much.  I like chunky guac.  Then it’s lime juice (half first, add the other half if you want), salt, a clove of minced garlic, 5 or so pickled jalapeno slices finely chopped, and a little splash of the pickle juice from the jalapenos.  Taste, and add more of any of that stuff you want.  It’s GREAT, and so easy.
  5. Thank you for all your great comments and advice re: traveling with Beck!  We leave (left) this morning at 6:20am from Greenville, and we are SO excited to be in the city.  Follow along on our adventures!  Food and baby pictures are clearly the key to your Friday happiness.
