The title says it all!
I’m insisting that this exact moment is when we get new furniture in our room. But! Let me explain.
Back when we thought we were moving our whole life plan was to ditch our bed and possibly the rest of our bedroom furniture when we sold the house. Our bed has NEVER been comfortable for us, starting with not being assembled properly when we bought it. It was cheap, I called a ton, people came over three times to “get it right,” and it has never not creaked. There are extra boards from Lowe’s, there are nails in places there shouldn’t be….its ridiculous.
But, we like our dressers and nightstands fine and when is the time to get new bedroom furniture, you know? But the bed is louder and louder each night and I swear one day we are going to fall right through it. So we’re doing something, hopefully in the next few months. A king-sized bed (bigger!), new bedding, and new paint on the walls. I think as of this writing we’re going to leave our dressers and nightstands unless we just find the deal of the century for financial reasons, although if Pottery Barn sends us some free stuff for review you won’t see either of us whining about it. That’s the tough thing about this, we don’t want to go super cheap but we don’t want to spend a fortune, and we aren’t sure if we want to get something to match our existing black painted wood, something to coordinate with it (that would allow us to move away from black furniture down the line), or go totally different and get all new stuff.
Gah. So, there’s a Pinterest board that I made with the idea of keeping our furniture and only redoing the bed. I’ve also been wandering around furniture.com which is nice because it has tons of stores’ stock all in one place. I’ve also gotten some pretty overpriced ideas from HGTV.
I’d love your thoughts! Mismatched vs all one color furniture, pros and cons of sets, all of that stuff. Just things you like. It’s fun and we aren’t in a hurry, and this kind of stuff is a little more tangible than, say, what kind of wiring we need in the new addition.
The answer to that one is I have no clue.
