Five for Friday

September 8, 2017 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

  1. Beck had her first beach experience last weekend for Labor Day. I have tons of pictures that I’m working on editing, and they are mainly of her grimacing, which is amazing. She … liked-ish the beach, didn’t like the sand between her toes, LOVED eating the sand, and popped a molar while we were there so was super grumpy the whole time because of it. It was like a Shakespearean tragedy, we laughed, we cried, we didn’t sleep, we (Jay) drank too much rum…you know. But it was somehow the best because we were with great friends and 99% of choices we make are for Beck to have experiences.
  2. Months that end in brrrrrr are here!  WHAT.  I can’t deal.  But, it is the time that my sister says it is completely acceptable to wear UGGS (it’s not, I know, but I love them, sorry), so there are pros to the end of summer, which I love so very much. I definitely saw a non-classic (read: looks relatively like actual shoes) pair of UGGS at Nordstrom Rack last week and can’t stop thinking about them. Jay is rolling his eyes so hard right now and also might cut off my feet due to horrible taste in footwear. Per him: “They’re Australian, and you might as well stick your feet in a kangaroo’s asshole, they’re that bad.” So now we know.
  3. A lot of times after days when I’ve been home with Beck, Jay will come home and take her from me so he can get some time with her and so I can finish anything outstanding for work before we have dinner together. But, Beck isn’t super keen on either parent being in the house and not paying attention to her. So often I hear her squeal ~Go see mom!~ and it just kills me when I have to work late.
  4. What if…the whole Kayne “Imma let you finish…” thing was made up? Fabricated to be the start of something that has been a huge cultural focus for YEARS now? Just.a.thought. Honestly props to both parties if so, because clearly it worked.
  5. I am SO glad it is the weekend. We have very little planned and are sort of still recovering from a super busy short week after our beach trip, so I’m trying hard to build in some pockets of doing nothing so that we can get our acts together before another super busy week. We are having killer gorgeous weather before the hurricane hits on Monday, so I’m all about being outside and eating great food, full stop. Have a great weekend!
