It’s a meal!  A whole meal.

Serve with anything

It’s got protein, starch, and veggies.

Also.  It tastes good.

I made this a few Fridays ago for my family – they came to have dinner with us and I didn’t feel like going to the grocery store because I’m an ass.  Sorry, but it’s true!

Y’all, it’s Monday.

I worked most of the weekend, spent some of it on planes, and spent some of it eating yummy food in places I flew to.

And tonight it’s back to figuring out what to make for dinner, what ingredients are going bad in the fridge, and how the heck I’m going to make it without 26 hours each day, which is what I really need to function.

Please tell me it’s not just me.

Tuna ready to grillI didn’t know what to call this.

If I liked long post titles, I would have called this Mexican-style Grilled Tuna, Tofu, Chicken, and Veggies with Green Cilantro Rice, Tons of Taco Toppings, and The Sauce I make for Fish Tacos.

But that seemed kind of long, so I didn’t do that.

Anyway, this meal is one that I made last weekend for my pretty sister Emily’s birthday.  Our family doesn’t really do restaurants on birthdays – there are a gazillion of us and we like to cook, so that’s what we do!

It involved champagne at 11:30am, which is never a bad thing.

If fish with parmesan crust and dill isn’t your thing, and you thought my cornish game hen “lovebirds” were dumb, I totally get it.

Some people need meat on fancy occasions.  It’s ok.

I’m not mad that you think the other stuff I tell you to cook is lame.

Last year about this time I made some steak with blue cheese sauce.

Then, I told you to make it for Valentine’s day, along with several other suggestions.

It was the most popular Valentine’s idea of 2012.

I’m not feeling like we should reinvent the wheel, are you?  I can reinvent it another day.

Today, though, let’s talk steak.

You know what next week is?

It’s a day where we buy things for people we love, and single people pretend like having a significant other is the only way to feel love, which makes me feel sad, but I kind of get it because of all the commercials, and people eat food together.

That’s what your Valentine’s day looks like, right?

Mine actually started last night.  I cooked something yummy for you!  I’m gonna show it to you soon so you can plan to make it for your sweetie, or your mom, or your dog, or your friends.  Love can come from lots of places, people!

I think cooking on Valentine’s day is so fun.  First, you save money and irritation and time by avoiding restaurants.  Plus, it’s a nice gesture for people you love.  Plus, you can drink and not drive.

Everyone wins!

Everyone has to eating dinner, right?

I do.

Sometimes, though, I’m really freaking hungry and really freaking lazy all at the same time and it’s so hard to motivate myself to make dinner but I know I should because eating out isn’t healthy or budget-friendly but IDON’TWANNACOOK so….

…it’s an internal battle.

When that happens, I need fast, easy things that aren’t going to take too much brain power to get on the table.

Let’s make a meal like that tonight, ok?  Fish with Lemon Caper sauce, Quinoa with veggies, and an easy salad.  Here’s the game plan:

I know.  Dumb title.

But it’s FRIDAY, y’all.

Two days until the Super Bowl!  AKA the time football players are going to intrude on the Beyonce concert.

Whatever.

The other day we talked about some GREAT appetizers/snacks that you can make this weekend that are totally meat-free.  Check out the post – there are some great ideas!

Now, you may not want to only serve vegetarian options on Sunday.  I’m with you – I’m doing a mix.  Here are my favorite options for meat-inclusive appetizers.  All easy, all scrumptious.

As a friend on Facebook says, someone appears to be planning to play football at the Beyonce concert this Sunday.

I love it.

I don’t love Football, BUT, this season especially I’ve had a blast learning a TINY bit more about it thanks to Jay and some of our BFF’s.  Apparently when you buy a house with someone you don’t get to ALWAYS sneer at what they like to watch on TV.

Whatever, I’m over it.

I can now tell you what this semester is going to look like.

It’s going to look like me being EXHAUSTED.

Like, not hungover, not sick, not pregnant, need to sleep for 10 hours at a time exhausted.  What’s THAT about?  It happened last night.  I had a million hour day, got to bed at 10, asleep by 10:30, and COULDN’T PRY OPEN MY EYES at 8am.

I wasn’t exactly early to work this morning.

If anyone has any magical energy secrets that don’t involve drugs please let me know.
