Restaurant Review – Quigley’s Pint and Plate

August 30, 2013 by funnyloveblog 2 Comments

It’s the end of summer, y’all.

Anyone going to the beach this weekend?  I’m not, but I’m SO TOTALLY STOKED for a 3 day weekend.  You don’t even know. We’re making sushi tonight for our supper club, and I’m basically just counting down the hours until I can GET. ON. THAT. Table of food

Making sushi is my favorite.

But, since it’s the last weekend of summer and all that I thought it might be fun to tell you about a beach restaurant!  Sound good?

I ate at Quigley’s Pint and Plate wayyyyyy back in June when I was there for a bachelorette weekend with my sister and 3 bffs.  We are on Pawley’s Island in SC, and it was basically the best weekend ever.  For our last meal before heading home we ate at this fun little pub!

Tuesday Night {vegetarian} Steakhouse Dinner

August 28, 2012 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

I’m putting this under the entertaining category, because this is dang good, kids.

It’s also easy – easy enough for a weeknight!

It’s also vegetarian, which apparently is good for our bodies and the earth and our wallets.

Whatever.  I love me some beef, but we all know that I’m a big tofu girl too!

Steakhouse Mushrooms

August 22, 2012 by funnyloveblog 3 Comments

Are you one of those people who always orders a side of braised mushrooms at every steakhouse you go to ever?

I love those mushrooms.  They’re good almost everywhere, huh?

That’s because they’re insanely easy to make and you should never EVER pay $9 for a side of them at a restaurant.

Unless you want to.

But, here’s an easy way to make them at home!

This is a super fun no-measurement recipe that takes minutes to prepare.

You could also skewer these babies and grill them if you’re feeling frisky.  Get creative!

Chile Relleno, Restaurant-style

June 20, 2012 by funnyloveblog 6 Comments

I love Mexican food.  We’ve talked about this, but I’m not sure if I ever told you that my most favoritest thing to order at a Mexican restaurant is chile relleno.  I really like how the pepper gets cooked to death and is filled with processed cheese and overcooked ground beef.

I’m not joking.  I really do like those qualities in certain foods.

So, that’s me.

Then, one day, my sister Julianne left some super duper processed queso in our fridge after housesitting.  I don’t BUY that stuff, even though I love it, but clearly I wasn’t going to let it go to waste.

Also, I had some random ground beef in the fridge that had already been cooked and the fat had congealed and it smelled like cat food.  I couldn’t wait to eat it.

Hence, a restaurant-style gloppy chile relleno was born.

And eaten.

And loved.

YUM.

Bang Bang Shrimp Salad

June 19, 2012 by funnyloveblog 1 Comment

Ready to have your mind blown?

Maybe?

Hopefully.

You know Bang Bang Shrimp, that fried shrimp mixed in spicy-ish sauce that you find at a variety of Asian and non-Asian themed chain restaurants all over the United States?

No?

Well.

It’s insanely easy to make.

Also, it isn’t healthy.  I have this….giggle….that happens when someone acts like ordering fried shrimp covered in, let’s be honest, MAYONNAISE is in any way a healthy choice.

Delicious?  Sure!  Healthy?  Sorry, buddy. Not quite.

That being said, to me, the deliciousness is enough to make up for the fried/mayo component every once in awhile!
