Restaurant Review – Dunleavy’s Pub

July 9, 2013 by funnyloveblog 6 Comments

We went to the beach last weekend.

From Wednesday night – Sunday morning, and it was probably the best time we’ve had all year. Mahi Wrap Bite

Not really, we’ve had a pretty great year.  This trip, though…it was kind of our last do-nothing-hurrah before 5 weeks of very intense class/work/yoga/wedding planning.  We have a LOT to do in the next month, so escaping it all for a few days was exactly what we needed.

We went to Sullivan’s Island, SC, and, naturally, ate a lot.  I know – shocking.

We love Sullivan’s – it’s right outside of Charleston, only three hours away from home, and is quiet without being boring.  We were SUPER bummed to leave on Sunday, so I’m spending the week filtering through pictures of all the food we ate to show you!  FUN, and it also means that around 9:30 in the morning I get ready for lunch.  Excellent.

Restaurant Review – Gringos

June 5, 2013 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

We have a new restaurant in Greenville!

Did you know that Greenville has the most restaurants per capita of any city our size?Lindsay's tacos

Someone told me that, and I have no clue if it’s true or not.  Will you look it up and get back to me?

THANKS.

So, Gringos.  I’ve been thrice (yes), and I have to say….

Restaurant Review – Poe’s Tavern

March 12, 2013 by funnyloveblog 3 Comments

It was brought to my attention yesterday that next week is spring break for Clemson University, where I’M A STUDENT.

The Sleper topped with shrimp

I have a lot going on.  Sheesh.

Spring break doesn’t mean a ton to people who work multiple jobs, but it does mean that one night next week that I would be in class I’ll be cooking dinner for 2 classmates while we work on a project.  SO BREAK-Y!  We’re one step away from Girls Gone Wild, my classmates and I.

Anyway, I know that real humans probably have real plans for any upcoming breaks.  So, in honor of those of you who might be seeing some sunshine in the coming weeks, I’ve GOT to tell you about this restaurant – Poe’s Tavern on Sullivan’s Island, SC.  My 3 bff’s and I went last year for a weekend away, which was essentially the best part of my year.  Minus buying a house and getting engaged kind of and getting a new job and having my first set of counseling clients.

Gold Bug Plus with Roasted Garlic Bleu and grilled onions

It was tied with those things, is what I mean.  2012 was a good year.

But this place.  The entire point of our girls’ weekend was to do nothing but cook/eat/drink/sleep.  We did VERY well at making our point.  We ate at restaurants, made these fish tacos for my friend Addie’s birthday (they’re her favorite, she orders them everywhere we go), watched crappy girl TV, and slept for MANY hours.

Restaurant Review – The Local Taco Greenville

February 21, 2013 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

GuacamoleYum!

A new restaurant is in town.

It’s a chain, but only kind of.

The Local Taco started alllllll the way in Tennessee (not really), and just opened a location in Greenville!  I’ve been there three times now, and I LIKE IT A LOT.  Also, I ate leftovers from dinner last weekend yesterday for lunch and I LIKED THEM A LOT.

Seriously. This place is great. A manager, Kris, emailed and asked if we’d like to come write a review and duh, we did. I had already been and wanted to take Jay, so we went for an early dinner last week before we went to see my sister sing the national anthem at a hockey game.  Because you care about things like that.

Vegetarian plate

Local Taco is a Mexican-fusian restaurant, if I had to call it anything.  Their menus are different at each of their locations based on local favorites.  They use local ingredients, too, which I love.

Geek Out With Me Over THIS Cuteness

October 25, 2012 by funnyloveblog Leave a Comment

Guys.  In Greenville, we have THIS zoo.  I’ve been going there since I was 3.  Then when I was older I moved within walking distance of it.

It’s small.

It’s local.

I love it.

It has giraffes!  And, as of a few days ago, it has a BABY GIRAFFE.  The one in the picture up there.  Kiko, a little boy born to his mother Autumn that we all got to watch on EarthCam – it happened in the middle of the night so we missed it because I’m a Sleep Nazi, but lots of our friends watched it, and apparently it was magical.

Homeboy was 6 feet tall!  That’s a big baby.

Welcome to Greenville, Kiko!  We can’t wait to come visit you.

Sometimes it’s the little things about where you live, isn’t it?  I kind of feel like he’s mine.
